Terms of Service
Last updated August 17, 2026
The short version. Knox finds money moves in your financial data and estimates what they’re worth. Those are estimates, not advice — Knox is not your accountant, and you should confirm anything that matters with a professional before acting on it. We don’t sell your data. You can delete your account any time. If we end up in a dispute, we resolve it through arbitration rather than court. The full terms below control; this box does not.
1Who these terms are between
These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) are an agreement between you and Knox Money (“Knox,” “we,” “us”). They govern your use of the Knox mobile application, our websites, and any related services (together, the “Service”).
By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2Who can use Knox
You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter a binding contract. The Service is offered only in the United States and is built around US federal and state tax rules; it is not designed for use anywhere else.
You must provide accurate information, keep your login secure, and you are responsible for activity under your account. Tell us promptly at privacy@knoxmoney.ai if you believe your account has been compromised.
3What Knox does
Knox connects to your financial accounts through Plaid, analyzes your activity, and surfaces suggested actions (“moves”) with an estimate of what each might be worth to you. Some features estimate tax positions, identify potentially deductible expenses, and generate summaries you can share with a tax professional.
Knox is an informational tool. It does not move your money, open or close accounts, file anything with any tax authority, or execute transactions on your behalf. Every action is yours to take.
4Your financial account connections
Bank connections are provided by Plaid Inc. By connecting an account you also agree to Plaid’s End User Privacy Policy, and you authorize us and Plaid to access and use information from those accounts to provide the Service.
You represent that you are authorized to connect each account you add. You can disconnect any account at any time in the app, which revokes our access going forward.
Knox depends on data from third parties — your financial institutions and Plaid. That data can be delayed, incomplete, miscategorized, or unavailable, and Knox’s output is only as good as what it receives.
5Not financial, tax, legal, or investment advice
Knox does not provide financial, tax, legal, accounting, or investment advice, and nothing in the Service is a recommendation that any particular action is suitable for you.
Tax figures Knox displays — including estimated quarterly payments, estimated taxes owed, deduction totals, and projected savings — are estimates. They are produced by automated models from incomplete information, using assumptions that may not match your circumstances. Among other limitations, Knox’s federal tax calculations currently assume a single-filer status and do not account for every credit, deduction, state tax regime, or filing situation that may apply to you.
You are solely responsible for your financial and tax decisions and for the accuracy of anything you file. Consult a qualified tax professional, accountant, or financial adviser before acting on anything you see in Knox. We are not responsible for taxes, penalties, interest, or other losses arising from your reliance on the Service.
6How Knox makes money
Knox is funded by user subscriptions. We do not accept payment from any financial institution in exchange for recommending it or ranking it more favorably. If that ever changes, we will disclose it clearly in the app before it affects anything you see.
7Subscriptions, billing, and cancellation
Some features require a paid subscription. Paid subscriptions purchased through the Apple App Store are billed by Apple and governed by Apple’s terms in addition to these.
Subscriptions renew automatically at the then-current price for the same period until you cancel. You can cancel any time through your Apple ID subscription settings; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and you keep access until then.
Refunds for App Store purchases are handled by Apple under Apple’s policies. We may change prices with at least 30 days’ notice before the change affects your next renewal.
8Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Connect accounts you are not authorized to access.
- Reverse engineer, decompile, scrape, or attempt to extract our models or data.
- Interfere with, overload, or probe the Service or its infrastructure.
- Use the Service to break the law, or to provide financial or tax advice to others as though it were professional advice.
- Resell, sublicense, or commercially redistribute the Service without our written permission.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, that we reasonably believe present a security or legal risk, or that abuse the Service.
9Disclaimers and limitation of liability
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any estimate, calculation, or recommendation will be accurate or produce any particular result.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, neither Knox Money nor its officers, employees, or suppliers will be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any lost profits, lost savings, tax penalties or interest, lost data, or loss of goodwill, arising out of or relating to the Service — whether based in contract, tort, or any other theory, and whether or not we were advised of the possibility.
Our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service will not exceed the greater of (a) the total amount you paid us in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) one hundred US dollars ($100).
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you. In that case our liability is limited to the greatest extent permitted by law.
10Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold Knox Money harmless from claims, damages, losses, and reasonable legal fees arising from your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any law or third-party right.
11Dispute resolution, arbitration, and class-action waiver
Please read this section carefully — it affects your legal rights.
Before filing anything formal, contact us at privacy@knoxmoney.ai with a description of the dispute. We will try in good faith to resolve it informally within 60 days. Most problems end here.
If we cannot, you and Knox Money agree to resolve any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service through binding individual arbitration, administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, rather than in court. Arbitration will take place in the county where you live or by remote hearing, at your election.
You and Knox Money each waive any right to a jury trial and to participate in a class, collective, or representative action. The arbitrator may not consolidate claims or preside over any form of representative proceeding.
Your right to opt out. You may reject this arbitration agreement by emailing privacy@knoxmoney.ai with your name, the email on your account, and a statement that you opt out of arbitration, within 30 days of first accepting these Terms. Opting out does not affect any other part of these Terms.
Either party may bring an individual claim in small-claims court if it qualifies. If the class-action waiver is found unenforceable as to a particular claim, that claim proceeds in court and the rest of this section still applies to everything else.
12Termination
You can stop using Knox and delete your account at any time from inside the app. Deleting revokes your bank connections immediately and removes your data on the schedule described in our Privacy Policy.
We may suspend or end your access if you breach these Terms or if we discontinue the Service. Sections 5, 9, 10, 11, and 14 survive termination.
13Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms. If a change is material, we will give you notice in the app or by email before it takes effect, and continuing to use the Service after that date means you accept the updated Terms. If you don’t, stop using the Service and delete your account.
14General
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules, except that the Federal Arbitration Act governs Section 11.
If any provision is held unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it. You may not assign these Terms; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between us regarding the Service.
